I haven’t always taken an interest in nutrition. In fact, in the eighties and nineties when I delivered training to large financial institutions both in Europe and the UK, a croissant for breakfast, a baguette for lunch and endless cups of tea and coffee were de rigueur to get me through the day without nodding off.
By the time I became a mum I suffered with constant fatigue, low mood and bad skin. Then in 2001, a friend told me about Carol Vorderman’s “30-day Detox for Life”. I decided to give it a go, and I was utterly amazed by the transformative effect these ‘new’ foods had on my energy levels, my mood, my appearance and my general wellbeing.
Keen to learn more, I went on to study nutritional therapy at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), founded by leading nutritionist Patrick Holford, where I graduated in 2008.
In the early part of my career, I largely worked with private clients helping them to improve their health and wellbeing, often through sustainable weight loss programmes, in one-to-one or group sessions.
During these sessions, I realised that many people were just like I had been - permanently exhausted and out of sorts, relying on sugary snacks and caffeine during their working day to boost their energy levels and avoid the mid-afternoon slump!
With this in mind, and wanting to share my healthy eating advice with a wider audience, I published a book in 2013 called 'No Caffeine Required - What to Eat to Energise your Working Day, Naturally'. Based on my unique POWER Eating Plan, I devised a series of healthy meal solutions containing the right balance of protein, healthy fats, wholegrains, fruit & vegetables and drinks, all designed to sustain energy levels.
My POWER Eating programme now forms the basis of a series of corporate talks, workshops and consultations both on site and remotely, aimed at helping busy, time-poor people to regain health and vitality through good nutrition.
I work directly with clients ranging from high street letting agents to city law firms, technology providers and advertising agencies across the UK and Ireland.
In addition, I am a trusted partner of Westfield Health, a leading provider of workplace health & wellbeing solutions for organisations throughout the UK and Europe. Westfield Health are dedicated to making a healthy difference to the quality of people’s lives. I deliver a range of workshops and consultations to support the delivery of their evidence-based health & wellbeing programmes.
